Pre:Fix (also written “Prefix,” and referred to as “we,” “our,” or “us” — the names Pre:Fix and Prefix refer to the same service and are used interchangeably in this policy) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, how it may be shared, and the choices available to you when you use Prefix.

1. Information You Provide

Depending on how you use Prefix, you may provide information including:

• Name;
• Age or date of birth;
• Gender;
• Profile photos;
• Bio and profile information;
• Interests, preferences, values, and connection preferences;
• Answers to onboarding questions;
• Events and venues you create or submit;
• Groups you create or join;
• Messages and other content you send through Prefix;
• Photos and other content you upload;
• Feedback, reports, and communications with Prefix.

Some information is optional unless clearly identified as required.

2. Photos

When you choose to upload a profile photo or other image, Prefix may request access to photos on your device.

Where supported by your device, you may choose to grant access only to selected photos rather than your entire photo library.

Prefix does not need access to photos you have not authorized the app to access.

Uploaded images may be processed for functionality, safety, authenticity, moderation, and abuse prevention.

3. Location Information

Prefix may process location information when you choose to use location-dependent features, such as discovering nearby events or venues or sharing a temporary meetup location.

We may process approximate or precise location depending on the feature and the permission you grant.

Temporary location sharing is intended to be time-limited. You should only share your location with people you trust.

You can control device-level location permissions through your operating system settings.

4. AI-Assisted Features

Prefix may provide AI-assisted features, including tools that help create or improve your profile or bio.

When you use these features, relevant information you provide—such as your answers to onboarding questions, existing profile information, and instructions—may be processed by an AI service provider to generate the requested result.

We aim to send only information reasonably necessary to provide the AI feature.

AI-generated content may be inaccurate or inappropriate. You should review generated profile content before saving or publishing it.

5. Information Collected Automatically

When you use Prefix, we may automatically collect technical and usage information such as:

• Device and operating-system information;
• App version;
• IP address;
• Log and diagnostic information;
• Crash information;
• Feature interactions;
• Event and venue interactions;
• Likes, selections, or similar activity;
• Security and fraud-prevention signals.

We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, understand, and improve Prefix.

6. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

• Create and maintain your account;
• Build and display your profile;
• Recommend people, events, venues, or groups;
• Provide matching and connection features;
• Provide messaging and group functionality;
• Generate AI-assisted profile content when requested;
• Personalize your experience;
• Detect duplicate or fraudulent content;
• Detect spam, scams, abuse, harmful content, or prohibited activity;
• Protect users and the platform;
• Troubleshoot and improve Prefix;
• Communicate important service information;
• Enforce our Terms and policies; and
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

7. Safety and Content Moderation

We may use automated systems, AI-assisted systems, and human review to identify content or activity that may violate our policies.

This may include detecting suspected fraud, impersonation, obscene or sexually explicit content, exploitation, illegal drug-related activity, threats, violence, abuse, scams, or other activity that may threaten users or the community.

Automated systems can make mistakes. Where appropriate, users may be given mechanisms to report content or request review.

8. How Information Is Shared

We may share information with service providers that help us operate Prefix, such as cloud infrastructure, analytics, security, AI, communications, mapping, and other technology providers.

These providers may process information on our behalf for the services they provide.

Information you intentionally publish or share with other Prefix users—such as your profile, event or venue submissions, group activity, or messages—may be visible to the users for whom the feature is designed.

We may also disclose information when legally required or when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or credible threats to safety.

9. We Do Not Sell Personal Information

Prefix does not sell your personal information for money.

If our data practices change as the service develops, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide legally required choices.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Prefix, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and why it was collected.

When information is no longer reasonably required, we may delete or de-identify it, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, and backup requirements.

11. Account and Data Controls

Depending on the functionality available in Prefix and applicable law, you may be able to review or modify profile information, change permissions, remove content, or request account deletion.

Deleting your account may not immediately remove information from backups, security records, legal records, or content that another user has independently retained.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

However, no internet service or electronic storage system can guarantee absolute security.

13. Children’s Privacy

Prefix is intended for adults aged 18 and older.

We do not knowingly permit children under 18 to create Prefix accounts. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may remove the account and associated information as appropriate.

14. California and Other Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may give you rights concerning your personal information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about how your data is processed.

We will process valid privacy requests in accordance with applicable law.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Prefix and its features evolve.

If changes are material, we may provide notice through the app, website, email, or another appropriate method.
